Philip "Phil" Wayne Ellis, 86, of Troy passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and community member. Phil was born on September 6, 1937, in McComb, Mississippi to the late Warren Edwin Ellis and Evelyn Morrison Ellis. He was a man of great character and integrity. He spent his life dedicated to his career as a Purchaser/Seller in the automotive industry, working for General Motors.
In addition to his parents, Warren and Evelyn, he was preceded in death by his brother John Paul Ellis.
Philip was a family man through and through, finding joy in spending time with his beloved wife Betty, his daughter Susan (Scott) Seigler; sons Wayne Ellis and Timothy (Tara) Ellis. He is also survived by three grandchildren Caitlin (Donavan) Wagner, Andrew Ellis, and Rebekah Ellis; one great-granddaughter, Elisabeth Wagner. He was blessed to have his family who brought him immense happiness.
He had a deep passion for the outdoors. Phil loved hunting deer and turkey, fishing, and hiking in the beauty of nature. He was a valued member of the community, teaching Sunday school, serving as a deacon and treasurer at Bold Spring Baptist Church, and being an former member of the Lions Club. Friends and family remember Philip for his kindness, his dedication to his faith, and his unwavering commitment to serving others. His impact on those around him will be forever cherished and remembered.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at Bold Spring Baptist Church with Pastor David Little officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends before the service from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the church.
Honorary escort will be comprised of the following, representing positions in the church that Phil was devoted to: Scotty Callan (Deacons), Roland Temple (Treasurer and Sunday School), Tim Mullinex (Men on Missions), and Dwayne Huff (Men's Ministries).
As we come together to honor and remember Philip, let us reflect on the cherished memories and the lasting imprint he has left on our hearts. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love and light he shared so generously in his lifetime.
