Phyllis Blizzard Rivers, 65, of 125 Henderson Street, Greenwood, wife of Paul Steve Rivers, died Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Lexington Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of Barbara Able Gunter and the late J. P. and Mary Blizzard. Phyllis was a loving Christian wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She provided child care in her home for many years and was a member of Restoration Ministries Church of God.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Gunter.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home and her mother of Greenwood are her children, Angela Michelle Knight (Michael), Rene Amyx (Devlin) and Kathy Smith (Danny) all of Greenwood; three sisters, Connie Witt (Ray), Linda Duffie (Joe) and Sissy Stewart (Jackie); a brother, Skeet Gunter (Belinda); seven grandchildren, Devyn Amyx, D. J. Amyx, Annaye Smith, Cassidy "Peanut" Smith, Ashley Knight, J. P. "Bubba" Smith and Candice "Sissy" Smith; and a great grandchild, Ryvers Dixon.
Services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday at Restoration Ministries with the Rev. Kenneth Rabon, Rev. Todd Raugh and Rev. Randy Ouzts officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Kenny Griffin officiating.
Pallbearers will be Robert Blizzard, Clyde Blizzard, Aubrey Collins, Kevin Able, Bryan Able, Earl Blizzard, Jr., D. J. Amyx and J. P. Smith.
Honorary escort will be the members of the Friends Sunday school class, members of Silver Wings, along with Donna Perry, Norma Riley, Gail Gambrell, Louise Cathcart, Nancy Collins, Serena Ables and Evelyn Murray.
The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Friday from 6 to 8 pm.
