Wilburn Lee "Preacher" Motte, 89, of Greenwood, husband of Shirley L. Clem Motte, died Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Ed and Essie Davenport Motte. Wilburn was a mechanic with Greenwood Mills- Durst Plant for 40 years. He loved Southern Gospel music and was a member of Augusta Highway Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are three sons, Jimmy Motte (Cheryl) of Johnson City, TN, Mike Motte (Susan) and Darrell Motte, both of Greenwood; two stepsons, Freddie Hopkins (Shara) of Greenwood and Ken "Tiny" Bearden (Cheryl) of Troy; a brother, Bobby Motte; a brother-in-law, Earl Clem; a sister-in-law, Brenda Lindley; a former daughter-in-law, Nanci L. Bearden; ten grandchildren including Justin, Josh and Jordan Bearden; and several great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 3 pm on Thursday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Randy Ouzts officiating.
Pallbearers will be Robert Worthington, Tommy Gonce, Harold Collins, Ray Witt, John Lindley and Ansel Brewer.
The family will receive friends following the service at the home.
Flowers are accepted, and memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
