Rachel Boyd McFerrin, 73, of 1412 East Scotch Cross Road, wife of James McFerrin, died Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Hospice House.

Born in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin F. Boyd and Margret Jones Boyd. Rachel retired from Monsanto after 35 years of service. After retirement she spent her time sewing, cooking, shopping and volunteering at the Hospice Store. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and was a faithful church member of East Side Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 54 years and 8 months, of the home are three sons, James Glenn McFerrin (Rebecca), Duane Marshall McFerrin (Tiffany) and Stephen Franklin McFerrin (Suzi); three brothers, James Thomas Boyd (Cynthia), Robert Ernest Boyd and Larry Wayne Boyd (PD); six grandchildren, Kensley Rachel McFerrin, Jordan Nicole McFerrin, Julia Suzann McFerrin, Emilee Grace McFerrin, McKenzie Cheyanne McFerrin, Jacob Duane McFerrin; and a great granddaughter, Adaley Dove.

Services will be held at 11 am on Monday at East Side Baptist Church with Pastor Donald Ramsey and Rev. Randy Ouzts officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Greg Boyd, Chris Boyd, Justin Cockrell and Garrett Chassereau.

Honorary escort will be Gina Horn, Donna McDowell, along with the members of East Side Baptist Church and the Hospice Store volunteers.

The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 2 -4 pm.
