Ray
Anderson
March 7, 1932 – February 26, 2026
Ray Richard Anderson, 93, of Greenwood, widower of Mary Ruth Reynolds Anderson, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026, at his home.
Born in Pine City, MN, he was a son of the late Etha O. Welch and Raymond Wilford Anderson. Ray retired from Monsanto, was a founding member of Coronaca Fire Department and was a member of Ninety Six First Baptist Church. Ray loved tuning into NASCAR races and cheering on his beloved Clemson Tigers during college football season. He dedicated many years to being a volunteer firefighter. After stepping back from volunteering Ray continued to support the department by collecting cans, raising nearly a million dollars to support his firefighting community. His generosity and commitment to helping others left a legacy. He was a man of many talents, always tinkering and fixing things, even if he occasionally ended up breaking them in the process. That never stopped him; he would just dive into the next project with the same enthusiasm and curiosity.
He was preceded in death by two children, Donald Sisk and Margaret Haynie; and a brother, Ethan Anderson.
Surviving are his daughter, Diane White; grandchildren, Charles Haynie "Skip" Jr. (Tina), Lisa Haynie Coker, Tina Haynie, Michael Haynie (Wendy), Regina Turner Davis (Patrick), Brandi Turner, and Traci Haynie Temples (Jeff); along with numerous great grandchildren, and great- great grandchildren.
Ray was very proud of his five-generation family.
