Raymond Lee Davis, 83, of Greenwood, husband of Annie Belle "A.B." Davis, went to rest high on that mountain in God's glory on away Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.
Born in Greenwood on July 10, 1940, he was a son of the late Grady F. Davis and Emma Morrison Davis. Raymond served in the Army National Guard for six years and worked for Chemstrand, Parke Davis Company, Greenwood Mills, Lowe's, Sara Lee Company, National Textiles and retired as a security officer with U. S. Security at the Fuji site in Greenwood. He loved to sing, loved music and was an avid Clemson football fan. Raymond was a member of Laurel Baptist Church where he served as deacon, co-teacher of the Coed Sunday School class, a member of the adult choir, Young at Heart group and in the book club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Douglas Davis; and a sister, Winelle Bone.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are his two sons, Richard Davis (Peggy) of Hanahan, SC and Jason Davis (Melissa) of Alpharetta, GA; brother, Don Davis (Bernadette) of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Candace Davis, Kerrie Jones, Grayson Davis and Bethany Davis; three great grandchildren, CJ Jones, Joseph Jones and Kassie Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Rodgers and Rev. Robbie Stollger officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Grayson Davis, Charles Jones, Bradley Gunter, Bryan Gunter, Meredith Havird, Tony Golding, Thomas Luker and Jeff Fuller.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 7-8:30 p.m. and also on Sunday before the service from 2-3 p.m.
