Reverend Edgar J. Kent, 78, of 1612 Ridge Road, husband of Georgia Harper Kent, died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, he was the son of the late Ernest H. Kent and Bessie Serby Kent Hawk. Reverend Kent earned a Bachelor�s degree in business, he was a preacher for over 55 years, ministering five different churches. He was a member of North Greenwood Church of God and the I.P.C.C. Surviving is his wife, of the home; two sons, David and Steven Kent of Battle Creek, MI; three daughters, Cheryl (Randal) Wakefield of Hodges, Cindy Kent of the home, and Linda (Daniel) Groff of Butler, IN; nine grandchildren, Scott (Terina) Wakefield of Fort Wayne, IN, Kimberly (Samuel) Rogers of Wake Forest, NC, Joshua Groff of Butler, IN, Samantha (Ian) Bush of Fargo, ND, Jacob Kent of Battle Creek, MI,and Jennifer Wakefield, Andrew Wakefield, Angela (Patrick) Burdette, and Rachel (Gabe) Butler all of Hodges; eight great grandchildren; and special foster children, Chris Murphy, Natasha Banks, and several other children. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
