Obituary
Dr. Richard Henry Cornell, Sr., 85, widower of Jean Frances Cornell, died Monday, October 10, 2016.
Born in Port Washington, Long Island, NY, he was a son of the late Arthur Roscoe Cornell, Sr. and Adelaide Hicks Cornell. Dr. Cornell received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Paper Chemistry at Lawrence University, Appleton, WI. He retired from Potlatch Corp. and then from NC State University, where he was a professor of wood chemistry.
Surviving are his son, Richard Henry Cornell, Jr. of Oklahoma and his daughter, Cydney Louise Cornell of California; and a grandson, Garrett Richard Cornell of California.
Private burial will be held at Nassau Knolls Cemetery and Memorial Park, Port Washington, L.I., NY.
