Richard Talmadge Tucker, 76, of 414 Panacea Road, husband of Lillie Mae Brown Tucker, went home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2011 at Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family, after a prolonged illness. Born December 18, 1934 in Elberton, GA, he was the son of the late Thomas Richard Tucker and Bessie Lee Bryant Tucker. He was a Veteran who served in the United States Army. Richard retired from Greenwood Mills. Mathews Plant #1 after 43 years of service and was also in the Quarter Century Club. He was a member of Emerald Sportsman�s Club. He was also a member and past president of Mathews Lions Club, past Master of Mathews Masonic Lodge 358 and member and past President of Woodman of the World Lodge 23. Richard was a long time member of First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church where he served as the chairman of the Board of Deacons, Director of the Brotherhood and was a Sunday school teacher for 43 years. He was a loving husband and father, who was known as Daddy to his adoring daughters and Mr. Richard to his admiring son-in-laws. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, gardening and cookouts. He was especially fond of growing and canning tomatoes, cooking chili, hash and preparing large meals for the church Brotherhood. He was preceded in death by three brothers. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 56 years; three daughters, Sherry Tucker and special friend Dan Hall of Greenwood, Janet (Dale) Lightsey of Augusta, GA and Janice (John) Parish of Wrens, GA; and a sister Emma Lou Tucker Lowe of Greenwood. Pallbearers will be Kelvin Bailey, Darrell Brooks, Bob Bartless, Roy Wilbanks, William �Bill� Rushton and Allen Lightsey. Honorary pallbearers will be Mathews Masonic Lodge 358 A.F.M., the Men�s Bible class of First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church along with Ernestine Rushton, Barbara Minor, Dr. Allen Turner, Erma and Clifton Medlock, Leigh Wilbanks, Allen Tretter, Brenda Smith, Vicki Bartless, Jim Doares and Robert �Shorty� Dougherty. The family is at the home.
