Rita Marie Kirby Creasman, 78, of Greenwood, widow of Donald Eugene Creasman, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024.
Born on November 15, 1946, in Union, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Daniel Kirby and Ruth Novella Stepp Kirby. Rita was a graduate of Lander University and dedicated her career as a medical technician and blood bank supervisor with Self Regional Medical Center for 41 years. Known for her vibrant personality, Rita had a keen love for life, evident in her passions for Disney, traveling, reading, and her favorite pastime-enjoying the thrills of NASCAR, especially as a devoted fan of Dale Earnhardt. She was an enthusiastic sports fan, proudly cheering on the Clemson Tigers, enjoyed gardening and was in the Awesome Girls Book Club for 10 years. Rita's love for adventure extended to her palate as well, as she delighted in trying various cuisines. Her warmth and nurturing spirit earned her the affectionate title of "Mama Creasman" among many students and families she interacted with during her time as a former Girl Scout Leader and dedicated band chaperon. As a member of Abney Memorial Baptist Church, she held various roles, including Director of WMU, Sunday School teacher, devoted choir member, and participant in the church softball team.
She was preceded in death by her sons-in-law, David Bollinger and Michael Henderson.
Surviving are her daughters, Teresa Creasman Bollinger and Mary Frances Creasman; grandson, Johnathon Henderson; like a grandson, Jamie Magyari; and fur babies, Elena Mae and Daisy.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Abney Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Justin Arender officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends before the service at the church from 1-2pm.
Memorials may be made to the Self Family Foundation or to Abney Memorial Baptist Church, 210 Bypass 225 South, Greenwood, SC 29646.
Due to her love of Disney and Clemson, the family requests those choosing to attend to wear that attire.
