Robert L. Owens, Sr., 86, of 420 Morgan Avenue, died Monday, March 2, 2009 at Hospice House. Born in Dixon, KY, he was a son of the late Henry and Emmie Owens. He was retired from Firestone. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 4th Armored Division in the European Theatre, whose assault ended the siege known as The Battle of the Bulge. He was of the Baptist faith. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Rudy Wallace of Greenwood; a son, Leonard Owens of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Al Wallace, Jason Wallace, Patrick Beggs, Jeff Owens and Renaye Owens and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children, Robert Lee Owens, Jr. and Lou Owens Wallace and a grandson, Chris Dixon.
