The Rev. Robert Arthur Ayers, 70, of 110 Divot Trail, Hunters Creek, husband of Judy Fortner Ayers, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at his home.

Born in Winchester, KY, he was a son of the late George W. and Helen Moore Ayers. Robert was a graduate of Lee Academy, Lee University and also Church of God Theological Seminary. He was a State Evangelist for two years and also served on numerous boards at the State and International levels of the Church of God Conference. Rev. Ayers was a retired pastor having served with: Woodruff, Laurens, Durst Avenue and LaFrance Church of God churches.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a son, Robert "Jason" Ayers of Greenwood; and a brother, David Lee Ayers of Ocala, FL.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Funderburk, Rev. Joseph McCoy, and Rev. Curtis Silcox officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be the men of Ninety Six Church of God.

Honorary pallbearer will be Ron Staggs.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
