Robert James Cockrell, Sr., 81, of 108 Morgan Avenue, husband of Carrie Rodgers Cockrell, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late O. A. and Mattie Belle Parkman Cockrell. Robert was a U. S. Navy veteran having served during the Korean War. He retired from Greenwood Mills-Mathews Plant after 45 years of service and was also a member of the Quarter Century Club. Robert was a member of Mathews United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers. Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are two daughters, Judy Ann Bannister (Danny) and Bobbie Jean Fuller (Bob), both of Greenwood; a son, Robert James �Jimmy� Cockrell, Jr. of the home; three sisters, Runette Frazee of Lexington, Sybil Cockrell (Lemar) of Saluda and Joyce Dennis of Laurens; five grandchildren, Lynn Allen (Robby), Tracie Williamson (Robert), Brooks Fuller (Heather), Krystal Cockrell and Kimberly Cockrell (Justin Oswald); eight great grandchildren, Justin Williamson, Bella Williamson, Keri Allen, Daniel Allen, Peyton Oswald, Cameron Oswald, Bailey Fuller and Bobby Butler; and two great-great grandchildren, Ava Williamson and Avery Stone. Pallbearers will be Robert Williamson, Justin Williamson, Bobby Butler, Mark Terry, Bert Cockrell, Robby Allen and Neal Cockrell. Honorary escorts will be Robert & Carrie�s nephews along with Gerald Hutchinson, Austin Hutchinson, Toyna Hutchinson and Sam Hutchinson.
