Robert W. Sprouse, Jr., 88, of 912 Siloam Church Road, widower of Mabel Louise Holder Sprouse, passed away on Saturday, May 05, 2012 at Hospice House. Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Robert W. Sprouse, Sr. and Pauline Elmore Sprouse. Robert was a U. S. Navy Veteran of WWII and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He retired from Greenwood Mills and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Robert was a charter member of Eastside Baptist Church where he was the first deacon, taught the men�s bible class and teenage boy�s class for many years. Surviving are a daughter, Joan Calliham and her husband J. B. of Greenwood; two brothers, Bobby Gerald Sprouse and his wife Tara and Preston Sprouse and his wife Barbara, both of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Angela Carruth of the home, David Carruth of Concord, NC, Jennifer Taylor of Greenwood, Bryan Calliham of Ninety Six and Tammy West of Columbia. Pallbearers will be Bobby Sprouse, Jr., David Hallman, Johnny Sprouse, Rev. Chuck Sprouse, Larry Holder and Daniel Holder. The family has requested that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to Eastside Baptist Church, 1908 Highway 72 E, Greenwood, SC 29649. The family is at the home of his daughter, Joan Calliham, 311 East Cambridge Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.
