Rodney Given Miller passed away at age 91 on June 21, 2018 at the Hospice House in Greenwood, SC.
Born in the Philadelphia, PA area on May 28, 1927, he was the son of the late Frank William & Dorothy Tamazine Given Miller. Rod graduated class of '49 from Cornell University with a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering degree. Rod served in the US Navy during World War II from 1945-46. He was employed at Scott Paper Company (now Kimberly Clark) for 35 years ending his career as VP & Director of Industrial Relations, moving on to Hay Career Consultants and Given & Miller doing outplacement & executive career counseling.
Rod was very active in the United Way for many years being Chairman of Area Campaigns in Massachusetts & Georgia. He served on the Facilities Review Committee of the Southeast Georgia Health Systems Agency & helped found & became the first president of the Delaware County (PA) Alcoholism Council.
Rod's hobbies included boating, fishing, collecting stamps and coins as well as spending many fun hours with his beloved yellow lab, G.G. He enjoyed serving as secretary/treasurer of the Frazier Pointe Homeowner's Association.
Rod is preceded in death by his parents and one of his daughters, Barbara Miller.
Rod is survived by his two sisters, Joyce Miller Sammis & Clarice Miller Scott, and his three daughters, Virginia Miller Petrisin, Lynn Miller Stewart and her husband, Randy, and Janet Miller Carver and her husband, Clay; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A private memorial service will be held.
