Roger Melton Helms, 82, of Greenwood, beloved husband of Elaine King Helms, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, at NHC of Greenwood.
Born on July 3, 1942, in Belmont, NC, he was the son of the late Harry Lee Helms and Bernice Carter Helms. Roger was a proud US Air Force Veteran and continued his service as a Major in the Air National Guard. He served as a navigator on C130 cargo planes. Roger was a former member of Greenwood Country Club. His passion for golf led him to coach for the Emerald High School Golf Team. He also officiated at numerous golf tournaments. In his leisure time, Roger enjoyed RV camping, hunting, and fishing, finding solace in the great outdoors. Known for his warm and kind-hearted nature, Roger cherished spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are his son, Mike Helms (Shelby); a sister, Deb Helms; and two grandchildren, Maddie and Presley Helms.
