Ronald Lee “Ronnie” Burton, 75, of Greenwood, beloved husband of the late Selena C. Burton, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28th.

Born on October 2, 1950, in Greenwood, he was the son of the late Rev. Ernest Burton and Virginia Wrenn Burton.

Ronnie proudly served his country in Vietnam, carrying with him the strength, determination, and sense of duty that would remain a part of who he was throughout his life. A hardworking and independent man, Ronnie eventually started his own land surveying company, Ronald Burton Construction Staking. He took great pride in his work and in providing for the people he loved. He believed in working hard, doing things right, and taking care of his own.

He was a simple man in many ways, but there was nothing ordinary about the impact he had on those who knew him. Ronnie was a true and wonderful friend, the kind of person who would do anything for you and who was always in your corner. You could count on Ronnie when you needed him, and his loyalty was something that could never be questioned. He had a way of making people feel like they mattered, and his friendship was a gift to many.

Above all else, Ronnie was a devoted and loving husband to his beloved wife, Selena Culbreth Burton. Their life together was built on love, companionship, and the kind of bond that leaves an everlasting mark on the heart. He was also a wonderful and caring father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Ronnie’s family meant the world to him, and some of his happiest moments were simply spent being together with the people he loved.

Ronnie had a lifelong passion for Hot Rods and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He was a true biker at heart. He loved riding, working on, fixing, and collecting bikes, and there was something special about seeing him doing what he loved. His motorcycles were more than just bikes; they were part of the life and freedom he cherished.

Despite his many interests and accomplishments, Ronnie found joy in the little things. He loved spending time with his family, enjoying the changing seasons, and especially looked forward to the fall. He didn't need much to be happy. Give him the people he loved, something to work on, a motorcycle to ride, and a beautiful fall day, and he had everything he needed.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Clara Mae Johnson, Joyce Allen, Barbara “Bobbi” Adams, Margret McCurry, and Newee Dorn.

Surviving is his son, Cary Burton (Michelle); grandchildren; Ernie Burton (Cecilia), Jessie Lee Burton, Amber Mckinney Bryson (Logan), and Chase Burton (Haley); great grandchildren, Evelyn Burton, Jacob Burton, Olivia Burton, Jackson Bryson, Lily Kate Bryson, Ella Bryson, Walker Bryson, Bentley Rudd, Lucas Burton, and Riley Burton, and lifelong best friend Gene Adams aka Goober.

After Selena’s passing, Ronnie was blessed to have Terri Dukes by his side. His family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Terri and her grandson Jace Rogers for the love, companionship, kindness, and continued care they gave Ronnie. Her continued love and devotion mean more than words can express.

The Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 2nd from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Harley Funeral home and Crematory.

Services will be held Thursday, September 3rd at 11:00 Am in Harley Funeral home Chapel with Toye Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Ronnie leaves behind a legacy of hard work, friendship, devotion, and love. He was the kind of man who didn't need to say much to show how much he cared. He showed it through his actions, his loyalty, and the countless ways he was there for the people around him.
