Luther Ronald Smith, 84, of Greenwood, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at McCormick Post Acute.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Ed Milton Smith and Vera Hensley Parrish. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Ronald served his country with honor and integrity. In his later years, he found joy in the quiet moments of life, immersing himself in word searches, listening to gospel music, and reading his Bible. His deep faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him through both challenges and triumphs.
In his younger years, Ronald was known for his musical talents, skillfully playing the guitar and piano. His love for music brought joy to many.
He is survived by his daughters, Dina, Laura, and Tanya; nephew, Ken Osborne, niece, Rita Buckner; numerous other nieces and nephews, and many great nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Ann Ayers and Nancy S. Osborne and two brothers, James Edward Smith and David Smith.
Ronald was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
