Miss Rose Marie Canny, 57, of North Street Burton Home, died Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Richmond, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William Hopkins and Rose Neatrour Canny. She attended special needs training schools in Virginia and Connecticut, graduating from Cedar Chapel School in Snow Hill, Maryland. While living in Spartanburg, SC, she was an active member of St. Christophers Episcopal Church and the Charles Lea Center. After moving to Greenwood, she was a ready assistant alongside her mother in many volunteer local activities including the Greenwood County Food Bank and Soup Kitchen and the Wise Penny for St. Nicholas Speech and Hearing Center. Miss Canny was a member of The Church of the Resurrection, Episcopal, where she had served as an acolyte and helper. She had been an integral part of the Burton Center Community since 1984. Surviving are two brothers, William F. Canny of Spartanburg, Edward W. Canny of Houston, Texas; and sister Patricia Canny Reynolds of Trenton, Ohio. '
