Rose Marie Oldershaw Pressley, beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, peacefully passed away on December 12, 2023, at the age of 79 in her home in Greenwood, SC. She was born on June 3, 1944, in Groton, CT, to her late parents, John Leon and Elizabeth "Betty" Beebe Oldershaw.
Rose dedicated her life to her family, nurturing a loving home and raising her children with unconditional love and care. She was a devoted wife to Dewey Pressley, her husband of almost 60 years, and together they shared a lifetime of cherished memories. After her children were grown, Rose pursued a career in retail, mostly in women's fashion sales. She had a natural talent for art and also possessed an incredible talent in the kitchen, where she delighted her loved ones with her delicious baked goods and mouthwatering meals, creating lasting memories around the dinner table.
One of Rose's greatest joys in life was the Christmas season. She had a knack for turning ordinary moments into magical experiences, providing her family with unforgettable memories. Her dedication to creating a warm and festive atmosphere made Christmas a truly special time for all who had the privilege of being in her company.
She was a member of New Journey Church.
Rose is survived by her husband, Dewey; children, Timothy Pressley (Donna) of Hodges, David Pressley (Maja-Lisa) of Raleigh, NC and Julie Anne Pressley-Jones (David) of Greenwood; her sister, Barbara Catron of Winter Haven, FL; her brother, Richard Oldershaw of Groton, CT; grandchildren, Joshua Pressley (James) of Maryland, Austin Jones of Greenwood, Alyssa Rose Jones Riley (Jordan) of Hodges, Lorin Pressley and Kiera Pressley, both of Raleigh.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. David McIntyre officiating.
The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
