Roy Cullen McCuen, 81, of 218 Kaye Drive, husband of Shirley Temple McCuen, died Monday, July 24, 2017 at his home.
Born in Greenwood, he was the son of the late Cullen McCuen and Irene Hosea McCuen. Roy was an U. S. Marine of the Korean War and retired from Greenwood Mills where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a member of New Market Baptist Church where he was in the Helping Hands Sunday school class.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Charles McCuen.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are three sons, Allan McCuen (Paula) of Easley, Gregg McCuen of Greenwood and Mark McCuen of Columbia; two sisters in law, Linda T. Merchant of Greenwood and Debra Ninabess McCuen of Hodges; step grandchildren, Bill Cheshire (Beth) of Anderson and Brad Cheshire (Christy) of Moore; seven step great grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stanley Sprouse and Rev. Rivington Temple officiating. Burial will be held in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Temple, Robert Temple, Brian Duffie, David Duffie, David Dixon, Buddy Gunter, Steven Franklin, Kenny Cole and Keith Hughes.
Honorary escort will be the Helping Hands Sunday school class along with David & Joyce Smith, Jimmy and Gayle Gorman.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 -8 pm.
