Roy O'Leary, 77, of Greenwood, widower of Virginia "Ginny" Schels O'Leary, passed away just shy of his 78th birthday on February 11, 2025 at Emerald Gardens. Born on February 14, 1947, in London, England, he was a son of the late Matthew and Penelope O'Leary. Roy's adventurous spirit led him to explore the world through his work as a machinist at Langston Manufacturing, where he spent countless hours perfecting his craft and contributing to the manufacturing industry.
A man of great creativity, in his early years Roy found joy in building RC boats, model planes, and even furniture. His attention to detail was evident in all his projects, capturing the imaginations of those lucky enough to witness his creations. Beyond his craftsmanship, he was a well-known figure in the Greenwood community, always active, he could be found patronizing at local spots, where his cheerful spirit and knack for storytelling never failed to entertain often seen sharing stories and engaging in good conversation with friends. His warmth and charisma enriched the lives of everyone he met. Roy was also a proud member of the Greenwood Masonic Lodge #91, where he found fellowship and purpose.
He is survived by his daughter, Lynda Marie Negron and grandchildren, Madilyn Negron, Nathan Negron, Olivia Higgenbothem, and Alyjah Richardson.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Jean O'Leary and sister, Pat O'Leary.
Roy O'Leary's presence will be missed by many, but his legacy of creativity, community, and connection will live on in those he touched.
