Roy D. Summey, 91, of 102 Essex Court, widower of Georgie Satcher Summey, died Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Hospice House. Born in Cedar Mountain, NC, he was a son of the late John Hubert and Ethel Burns Summey. He was retired from Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. After his retirement, he was a night watchman for Greenwood Mills. Mr. Summey was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church and the Margaret Henderson Sunday School Class. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by his sister and his six brothers. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Corley and her husband, Jimmy, of Greenwood; two sons, Bryan Summey and his wife, Theresa, of Bradley and Danny Summey and his wife, Gayle, of Indian Land; ten grandchildren, Robby Corley and his wife, Karla, Ginger Carter and her husband, Scott, Gina Wood and her husband, Brian, Jeff Summey and his wife, Renee, Tracy Taylor and her husband, Lance, Stephanie Gossett, Richie Summey and his wife, Hope, Craig Palmer, Jason Palmer and Ashley Wilson; 11 great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Maye Riddle and Bert Summey, both of Greenville and Nona Jacobs of Lexington; and special friends, Lewis Beaube, James Balchin, Marla White, Nancy Sullivan, Nancee Keasler, George and Nancy West. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. John Holman, Dr. Bob Todd, the staff of the 6th floor tower at Self Regional and the staff of Hospice House for their exceptional care during Mr. Summey�s last illness.
