William "Royce" Grizzard,76, of Plum Branch, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 21, 2025 at his home.
Born on January 4, 1949, to the late Henry and Carolyn Freeman Grizzard in Savannah, Georgia. He was a devoted husband, father, veteran, and cherished member of his community.
Royce was a proud United States Naval Veteran who served in the Vietnam War, demonstrating unwavering dedication to his country. He also served in the United States Army prior to the Navy, where he devoted two years of his life to protect and serve. Royce was honored to be a lifetime member of the Masonic Mine Lodge #117 in McCormick, where he fostered lasting friendships and a sense of camaraderie.
Professionally, Royce spent his career as a boiler plant operator in the Civil Service sector of the government a role he dedicated himself to with integrity and hard work. Outside of his occupation, he found immense joy in woodworking and took great pride in creating beautiful pieces that brought warmth and comfort to those around him.
Known for his kind heart and joyful spirit, Royce took great delight in playing Santa Claus for local children in McCormick and Augusta. He generously shared the magic of the holiday season at churches, the Veterans Administration, and doctors' offices, leaving a lasting impression on the young hearts he touched.
Royce cherished his time in the yard, loved to travel, and relished every moment spent with his beloved family. He was a simple man who found genuine happiness in being at home with his wife, Janice Grizzard, and their shared life together. He is also survived by his son, Josh Grizzard and two sisters, Marie Roessler, Sharon Aaron and sister-in-law,
Becky Strickland.
Royce was preceded in death by his parents, Henry (Carolyn) Grizzard, and siblings, Joseph Grizzard, Thomas Grizzard, Patricia "Pat" Douberley, Ernest Grizzard, along with three Brothers-in-law, Ken Roessler and Jim Aaron, and Reggie Strickland.
