Ruby Smith Devore, 81, of 110 Rock House Road, widow of James Ernest Devore, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Born in McCormick, she was a daughter of the late Robert Terrell "Mutt" Smith, Sr. and Onnie Renee Turnage Smith. Ruby was a true fighter, surviving breast cancer twice. She was a huge Elvis fan and enjoyed anything that had to do with him. She loved every moment she got to spend with her grandbabies and treasured her husband dearly.

She is survived by her daughter, Annette Gillion (John) and grandchildren, John Gillion "Little John", James Carter Gillion, and Christian Cole Gillion.

In addition to her husband, James she was preceded in death by sisters, Lela Cooper, Bessie Turnage, Lula Cartee, and twin sister Betty Lou Turnage and brothers, Cliff Turnage and Robert "Buddy" Terrell Smith, Jr.

Services for Ruby and her husband, Jimmy, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Ouzts officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
