Ruby Lorene Cox Southerland, 78, of 117 Utopia Acres Drive, widow of Thomas Ray Southerland, died Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Hospice House. Born in Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late Norman Cox and Viola Easter Knight Cox. She retired from Schlumberger Manufacturing and was a member of Abney Memorial Baptist Church and the Senior Adult Class. Surviving are two sons, Thomas Southerland (Lisa) of Troy and Anthony Southerland of the home; two daughters, Brenda Rodgers (Jim) of Ninety Six and Debbie Adams (Tim) of Greenwood; a sister, Minnie Sue White (James) of Abbeville; four brothers, Bobby Cox of Greenwood, Marvin Cox (Barbara) of Greenwood, Harold Cox of Bowman, GA, and Troy Cox (Nancy) of Greenwood; two sister-in-laws, Martha Cox and Linda Cox, both of Greenwood; and seven grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Cox; and two brothers, Arthur and Johnny Cox. Pallbearers will be Kent Cox, Jeff White, Brian Cox, Mike Weathers, Jarrod Pawlak, and Scott Bundrick. Honorary escorts will be the Senior Adult Class.
