Rudolph "Rudy " Nathan Sims, Sr., 86, of 108 Dogwood Drive, husband of Hilda Lowery Sims, died Thursday, May 14, 2015 at his home. Born in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Claude Edwin Sims and Alice Sisk Sims. Rudolph was a U. S. Navy veteran of WWII and was a graduate of Limestone College with a degree in Business Management. He worked for the US Postal Service for 17 years and then Warner Lambert Capsugel where he retired. Rudolph enjoyed playing golf with the Star Fort Seniors and loved everyone. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He was twice married, first to the late Betty Lou Sims and was also preceded in death by a son, Rudolph "Rudy " Nathan Sims, Jr.; sisters, Joyce Sims and Juanita Sims Glenn and a brother, Claude E. Sims, Jr. Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a son, Barry Sims (Thelma) of Gastonia, NC; a daughter, Vickie Laughlin (Larry) of Hodges; daughter-in-law, Susan Sims of Greenwood; a stepson, Gene Williams of Ninety Six; four grandchildren, Brooks Sims, Brittany Dunlap (Terence), Kristina Rhoad (Eric), and Corey Sims; a step granddaughter, Crystal Martin; and three great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be John Stewart, Tommy Pendley, Jerry Sims, Glenn McClam, Donnie McDowell and Jeff Lawson. Honorary escort will be the members of the Star Fort Senior Golfers.
