Russell Dale Akins, 33, of 3527 Highway 246 North, Hodges, died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Fayetteville, NC, he was a son of Teresa Ann Laughlin and the late Kenneth Dale Akins. He was a member of First Christians Church in Laurens, where he was baptized on Sunday, March 17, 2013. Surviving is the woman he loved with all of his heart, Keri Lucas, of the home; children, Jacob Reilly Harris and Alexis Aurora McVey, both of the home; his mother and stepfather, Teresa Ann �Bootie� Laughlin and Samuel Todd, of Hodges; brother, Harold Gregory Wright of Greenwood; grandmothers, Margie Brown and Agnes Akins, both of Hodges; aunt, Gayle Laughlin of Alexandria, VA; uncle, Larry Laughlin and his wife, Vickie, of Hodges; cousin, Brantley Juanita Laughlin of Greenwood; and a special niece, Kinsley Marie Crawford of Hodges. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, James Laughlin and Otis Akins.
