Thomas Russell Black, Jr., 74, of Greenwood, husband of Dorothy Ann Nickles Black, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at his home.
Born in Clinton, he was the son of the late Thomas "Tommy" Russell Black, Sr. and Martha Whitmire Black. He received his associate degree in industrial technology; work for Greenwood Mills as a maintenance technician; and was a US Navy Veteran. He was also formerly employed with Union Carbide and Kaiser Aluminum. Russell was a gunsmith and enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are his two daughters, Tracy Johnson (Rob) of Bradley and Tobi Hayes (Butch) of Abbeville; a sister, Jan Nooney (Rick) of Roanoke Rapid, NC; four grandchildren, Richard Turnage (Samantha) of Hodges, Ty Johnson (Amanda) of Chappells, Camren Johnson (Kaylee) of Ninety Six, and Cody Hayes of Abbeville; three great grandsons, Westyn, Gavyn, and Graham Johnson; and three great granddaughters, Ashlyn Summers, Christina Young, and Bristol Turnage.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Ouzts officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Britt Smith, Will Bass, Kevin Powell, Richard Turnage, Ty Johnson, Camren Johnson, and Cody Hayes.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
