Ruth Eleanor Latimer Kent, 87, of 306 Grove Street, widow of the Rev. John Kent, died Thursday, November 6, 2014. Born in Honea Path, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Grace Fisher Latimer. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and supported her husband throughout his ministry as an itinerant evangelist and in his longtime pastorate of Southgate Baptist Church in Augusta, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters, Dorothy Hawkins of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Ellen Duvall of Greenwood. Surviving is a daughter, Pam Kent of Lawrenceville, GA; two grandsons, Steven Waters of Atlanta, GA and Derek Waters (Darenda) of Dickson, TN; a great grandchild; five nieces and two nephews.
