Ruth Wiley Shipes Burke, 86, wife of Billy Ray Burke, of 441 Rice Street, Calhoun Falls, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 07, 2016 at her home with her loving family surrounding her.

Born in Calhoun Falls, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Effie Lee Wiley. Mrs. Burke worked many years and retired from Monsanto in Greenwood. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church of Calhoun Falls. Ruth will be remembered for her love of family, flowers and her dog, Trixie.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Paul Shipes; sisters: Lucille Jones, Mavetta Wiley, Mattie Lee Scoggins and Sara Ellis; and brothers: Jody Wiley, Milton Wiley, Luther Wiley, J. C. Wiley, Samuel Wiley, Clarence Wiley and Ernest Wiley.

Mrs. Burke is survived by her loving husband of the home; her granddaughter, Shaye McElveen Beville, of Columbia; also many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Craig Brown, Cody Johnson, Clifford Loftis, Johnny Newton, Bobby Ellis and Burton Haygood.
