Sylvester Eugene �S.E.� Cook, Jr., 89, of 617 Davis Street husband of Elizabeth Hamlett Cook, died Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Charlotte, NC, he was the son of the late Sylvester E. Cook Sr. and Blanche Nicholson Cook. He retired from Greenwood Mills and also worked for the Index Journal. Mr. Cook was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and was of the Lutheran faith. Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are, four sons, Billy (Frances) Cook, Dewey (Carol) Cook, Dennis Cook, all of Greenwood and Alvin (Betty) Cook of Lexington, KY and; a daughter, Cathy (Lanny) Bryant of Lincolnton, GA; a sister, Betty Ballew of San Antonio, TX; nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be David Lawson, Mark Olivares, Todd Dover, Steven Bradberry, Ashley Andrews and Justin Truell. The family is at the home.
