With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to our beloved mother, Sally Baumeister, who left
us too soon on November 4, 2025, at the age of eighty-five.
Sarah Dudley Cope, born on November 19, 1939, in Beaufort, SC, was the daughter of the late Francis Lamar Cope, Sr. and Sarah McCown.
Sally was truly one of a kind. Known for her resilience, loving spirit, and quick-witted
sense of humor, she had a gift for making everyone feel at home. Whether it was
hosting friends for a game of bridge or euchre, or sharing her passion for painting and
gardening, Sally brought joy to all who knew her. Her home was always open, filled with laughter, delicious food, and the warmth of family and an amazing group of friends. She loved nothing more than gathering her loved ones together!
She was beautiful, strong, self-sacrificing, and independent. She raised three children
while teaching full-time at Piedmont Technical College. She earned her master's degree
at Clemson University, following an undergraduate degree from Winthrop University.
She also dedicated time to the Greenwood Humane Society, was a member of
Greenwood Garden Club and was a faithful servant of Christ and a member of the
Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her children, Rhett Sanders, Leslie and Allen Bradley, Cope and
Gina Sanders; her stepchildren, Bill and Brenda Baumeister, Joanie and Larry Huyear,
Diane Laurens, Eric and Pam Hess, Nona Schor and Marc Hess; her grandchildren,
Stephen, Madison, Charlie, Sam, Andie, Brian, Ashley, Jason, Lindsay, Katie and
Gunter; and loving in-laws, nephews, and cousins.
Sally is now reunited with her beloved husband, Charlie; her brother, Lamar Cope, Jr.;
her parents, and many wonderful friends and extended family.
On Thursday, November 20, 2025, we will have a graveside service at Oakbrook Memorial
Park at 12:30 PM followed by a celebration of her life from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Maxwell Crossing Events (upstairs at Good Times Brewing).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to the Greenwood Humane Society in her honor at
