Obituary

Sally C. Knight, 71, of 108 Hampton Road, wife of Jimmy Knight, died Sunday, August 4, 2013, at Self Regional Hospital. Born in Aiken, she was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Paul Hayne Culbreath, Jr. (Sara). She spent her early childhood in Old Ellenton, SC, moving to Aiken in 1951, then to Columbia in 1952. She made her home in Greenwood from 1968 until her death. She received a BA in Business Education from the University of South Carolina and a MA in Secondary Administration from Clemson University. She taught in Richland County District 1 schools for four years, then spent the remainder of her 30-year teaching career in Greenwood District 50. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, honorary teachers� sorority. After retirement, she worked part time at Greenwood Ear, Nose, and Throat. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. Surviving is her husband of the home; a daughter, Libby Smith, and husband Stan; a step-daughter, Cynthia Trammell and husband Rick, all of Greenwood; two beloved grandchildren, Katie Nguyen, and husband Patrick of Fayetteville, NC and Brandon Hayne Smith of Greenwood; two step-granddaughters, Jenny Trammell of Gainesville, FL, and Anna Trammell of Urbana, Illinois; two great-grandchildren, Caleb Walker Nguyen and Savannah Rose Nguyen; a brother, Paul Hayne Culbreath, III, of Largo, FL. Her grandchildren were her passion throughout their lives. Pallbearers will be Uvil Knight, Jeff Knight, Ray Knight, Brian Knight, Larry Massey and Thomas Mitchell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Greenwood, P.O. Box 49776, Greenwood, SC 29649. The family members are at their respective homes.
