Samuel Charles Holden, Sr., 82, of Ninety Six, husband of Alma Earle Land Holden, passed away Monday, April 24, 2023 at Self Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Born in Longs, SC, he was a son of the late James Alex Holden and Claudia Mae Floyd Holden. He was employed with Carrier as a HVAC engineer and a member of Siloam Baptist Church. Sam was a US Air Force veteran, where he was in the special forces and a NSA Agent. He was an avid coin collector, enjoyed jogging and staying active, and liked to go camping. Sam's family was everything to him and supported them in everything they did.
He is survived by his wife, Alma; daughter, Terri Holden Brooks; daughter-in-law, Teresa Holden; sisters-in-law, Janice Griffin (Melvin) and Robin Cobb (Paul); granddaughters, Carolyne Horton (Nathan), Jayde Winn (Fletcher), and Jessica Teresa Holden; great grandchildren, Samuel Harter and Waylon Winn; and beloved cat, Kitty Kitty.
He was preceded in death by his son, Samuel Charles Holden, Jr. and brother, Jack Holden.
A memorial service, with military honors, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at Siloam Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip Howle and Rev. Greg Spearman officiating.
The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
The family will be at the home of his sister-in-law, Janice, 802 Wilson Bridge Road, Ninety Six, SC 29666.
