Rayford S. �Sam� Norris, 88, of 8103 Highway 25 South, widower of Mildred Penland Norris, died Friday, October 18, 2013 at Hospice House. A lifelong resident of Greenwood, he was a son of the late Francis C. Norris and Susie Witt Norris. Rayford retired from the U. S. Navy and Merchant Marines having served during WWII, Korea and Vietnam after 26 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 50 and Fleet Reserve, member at large. He was twice married, first to the late Ilene Riggleman Norris. Surviving are a sister, Ruth Winn of Edgefield; a brother, Frank C. Norris of San Diego, CA; special caring neice, Karen Carter of Black Mountain, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his many good friends.
