Obituary

Sammy R. Gorman, Sr., 67, of 1218 Island Ford Road, died Friday, December 11, 2009 at his home. Born in Iowa, he was a son of the late Kermit and Ruby Terry Gorman. Sammy served in the USMC in March 1960 to March 1964, where he served two years aboard the USS Boxer-LPH. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School, class of 1959, and a master Electrician at Cullum Electric for over 30 years where he helped with the Law Enforcement Center, the second addition to the Genetic Center and two banks on the square, at the Clock Tower. Sammy was very proud of his work. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Robert D. Gorman. Surviving are a daughter, Donna R. Gorman, and her special friend Suzie Mohr, of Cross Hill; a son, Sammy Gorman, Jr. and his wife JJ, both of Greenwood; a sister, Sandra Cobb of Greenwood; a brother, Jimmy Gorman of Greenwood and two grandchildren, Austin Gorman and Celeste Gorman. Pallbearers will be Jerry Davis, Elliot Dorn, Dale Gorman, Dan Gorman, Dee Gorman and Darrell Gorman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Shriner�s Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
