Sara Babb Armstrong Hoole, 95, of 308 Beach Drive, widow of William H. Hoole, died Friday, July 1, 2011 at Hospice House, Greenwood. Born in Gray Court on January 21, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence A. and Sallie Babb Armstrong. She was a 1937 graduate of Winthrop College, where she received her degree in Education. Sara taught special education classes for handicapped children in the Edisto School District in Cordova, SC, and after moving to Ninety Six in 1965, she continued her interest in handicapped children and, along with her husband, created the Lake Greenwood Project for handicapped children. Sara was the oldest living member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Wesleyan Sunday School Class. Surviving is her only child, Billy Hoole and his wife, Martha; granddaughters, Kathy H. Camp and her husband, Chuck, with whom she made her home, and Laura H. Dudley and her husband, Travis; her special great grandchildren, Sarah Kathryn Camp, Emily Camp, Will Dudley and Hampton Dudley. She also leaves a special, dear friend, Sally Sprott, who has been her caretaker for the past six years.
