Obituary

Mrs. Gulledge passed away Monday, January 4, 2010. She was born November 18, 1914, in Kirksey, SC, to the late Goode and Sue Ouzts Williams. She attended the schools of Greenwood District 50 and graduated from Lander College in 1936 with a degree in education. She was a dedicated elementary school teacher for 35 years. She lived in Kimbrook until moving to Emerald Gardens in 2000. She loved to play bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs. Her love and talent for needlework endeared her to many. Her handmade gifts became treasures, and she shared her talent by teaching needlepoint at Piedmont Tech for several years. Mrs. Gulledge is survived by her beloved son, Goode Max (Dee) Gulledge of Columbia, her cherished granddaughter, Annah (Michael) Hiers of Lugoff, her sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mobley Williams of Greenwood and Mrs. Jack Williams of Columbia, and several nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was welcomed to Heaven by her husband of 51 years, Max McLendon Gulledge, her parents, her sister and brothers--Susan, Mobley, and Jack Williams. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the administration and staff at Emerald Gardens of Greenwood for 10 years of love and care and to everyone at HospiceCare of the Piedmont for their vigilance and care in her last days.
