Jay Scott McClurkin, 63, of Greenwood, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025, at his home.

Born in Tampa, Florida, he was a son of Margie Watts McClurkin and the late James Hayes McClurkin. A proud member of the United States Air Force, he served honorably in the military, showcasing not only his skills as a Russian Linguistic but also his commitment to his fellow servicemen and women. After his service, Scott continued to inspire many through his artistry in writing country music for music companies in Nashville, TN.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his children, Ben McClurkin and Beck McClurkin; brother, James Alan and wife, DeAnn; a grandchild; niece, Sissy McClurkin; nephew, Erik Thompson; and great niece, Zoey Thompson.
