Shelton "Bill" Cromer, 88, formerly of Ninety Six, widower of Clara Bennett Cromer, passed away Monday, June 24, 2024, at Wesley Commons.
Born on April 24, 1936, in Saluda, he was a son of the late James William Cromer and Dolly Miller Cromer. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a 59 year member of the Eureka Lodge #47. Bill retired from Greenwood Mills and enjoyed fishing. He was a hardworking, loving grandfather known as "Pops" that was strong willed and always stuck to his virtues. Bill shared 62 years of marriage with his beloved wife Clara and was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Margie Perry, Ella Goff and Elvira Lewis; and brothers, James "Punk" Cromer, Ralph "Flap Jack" Cromer, W.P. "Smilie" Cromer and Charles "Cuff" Cromer.
Surviving are his sons, Phillip "Phil" Cromer (Mary Ann) of the home. and Brian Cromer (Karen) of Greenwood; brother, Kenneth Cromer; grandchildren, Angel Stewart (Chris) and Andrea Cockrell (Mike); thirteen great grandchildren with special great granddaughter, Brooklynn McCary; special friend who always checked on him daily, Elliott "Dusty" Rhodes; and his side kick "Lil Man".
Services will be held at 12 pm on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Ouzts officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 6-7 pm.
