Lynward Ray �Shorty� Riddle, 81, of 126 Hill and Dale Drive, husband of Camilla Jameson Riddle, died Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at his home. Born in Greenwood, he was the son of the late Edgar D. and Hazel Holley Riddle. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School, attended Wofford College and served in the SC National Guard. Shorty was the owner of Emerald Hardware, was employed by Abney Mills and served as a bailiff for Greenwood County. He was named Greenwood�s Young Man of the Year in 1965. Shorty�s passions included baseball. He was a former coach of the American Legion team and was inducted into Greenwood�s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008. He was a member of the Greenwood Lions Club and Panola United Methodist Church, where he was a member and former teacher of the Kate Holley Sunday School Class. Surviving is his wife of the home; his daughter, Danna Riddle Dandurand and her husband, Craig, of Louisville, KY; his son, Mark Ray Riddle and his wife, Sheila, of Greenwood; a sister, Gloria Riddle Bowden of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Morgan Riddle, Hunter Riddle, Sam Dandurand, Jolie Dandurand, Luke Dandurand, Nicholas Dandurand and Julia Dandurand; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Horton. Pallbearers will be Michael Thigpen, Curtis Burnett, Ted Cantrell, Tommy Donn, Dennis Beauford and Brett Bowden. Honorary escort will be the men of Panola United Methodist Church along with Allen Irwin, Harold Lovett, Ben Johnson, Robert Abercrombie, Bill Garvin, Tom Chandler, Mack Baltzegar, Ralph Bozard, Melvin Poole and Bob Gorham.
