Charles William "Sonny" Bruce, Jr., 75, formerly of Hampton House in Greenwood, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Iva Post- Acute in Iva.

Born in Iva, he was the son of the late Charles "Charlie" William Bruce, Sr. and Elizabeth Duffell Simpson. He attended Cedar Springs School for the Deaf and the Blind in Spartanburg and was a member of Community Wesleyan Church in Iva. Sonny loved anything that had to do with music. He played the piano, guitar, and harmonica along with writing lyrics and singing. While living at Hampton House, he enjoyed rocking on the breezeway and the fellowship with other residents.

He is survived by his sisters, Jane Hanvey (Ed) of Greenwood and Dianne Craft (Milton) of Piedmont and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte B. Terry and Inez Bruce.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Leonhardt officiating.

Burial will at held at 4:00 p.m. following the service at Iva City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Hanvey, Hunter Hanvey, Quinton Brown, Steven Walden, Jeff Phillips, and Kaleb Saxon.

The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
