William Christopher "Sonny" Haynes, Jr., 76, of 4718 Old Laurens Road, widower of Lavonia Jane Jones Haynes, died Monday, April 2, 2018 at his home.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late William Christopher Haynes, Sr. and Billie Rice Haynes. Sonny was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and was also a member of the Upper Savannah Shooters Association. Sonny retired from Carolina Tool and was a member of Siloam Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Angela Jane Haynes and Kimberly Dawn Haynes.
Surviving are; two daughters, Christine Pilgrim (Rodney) of Honea Path and Barbara Haynes of the home; two sisters, Becky Cherry and Jane Borja (Mike) both of GA; a brother, Bud Haynes (Margrett) of Greenwood; and grandchildren, John Wesley Pilgrim, Rodney Pilgrim, Jr. and Dorian Brown.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Howell and Rev. Marc Vickers officiating.
Honorary escort will be the members of the U.S.S.A. along with Dr. Leila Ganjehei and Kaitlyn Brock, RN.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home before the service from 1:00-2:00pm.
