SPC Brycen Chance Ronk, 21, a devoted son, brother, soldier, and friend, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024 after a tragic motorcycle accident.

Born on September 10, 2002 in Greenwood, SC, he was a son of Darren Ronk and the late Amy D. Carter. Brycen was a graduate of Greenwood High School, where he excelled as a member of the ROTC and track team. His passion for anything with a motor and fast cars was evident to all who knew him. He pursued his dream of serving his country by enlisting in the United States Army on November 2, 2021, as a Delta-aviation powertrain mechanic. Throughout his military career, Brycen's commitment and skill led him to the esteemed rank of Specialist within the Army's Unit-601 Aviation Support Company, 1st Cavalry stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. His remarkable service was recognized with several honors, including the National Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Aviation Badge, and Driver/Mechanic badge. Brycen's dedication, bravery, and selflessness exemplified the true spirit of a soldier.

He is survived by his father, Darren; grandmother, Sandra Carter; sister, Sasha; brothers, Austin Carter (Taylor Gillion) and Dustin Ronk; aunts and uncles, Mike Barton (Teresa), Vickie Rhodes (Stacy), Michelle Taylor (Barry), and Ann Clark (Dennis); and cousins, Corey Barton (Alycia), Andrew Barton, Kristen Hinton, Joey Hinton, Carter Rhodes, Caroline Rhodes, Darlene Hinton, Wyatt Barton, Wren Barton, Linkoln Barton, Amber Taylor, Ashley Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Robbie Taylor, and Bryan Varner (Courtney).

In addition to his mother, Amy, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, Benny Carter.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Harley Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Reverend Randy Ouzts. A time of visitation will be held one hour before the service at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Barton, Corey Barton, Stacy Rhodes, Carter Rhodes, Brandon Taylor, and Robbie Taylor.
