Stanley "Blue" Davenport,83, widower of Ardelia "Dee" Maffett Davenport, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at his home.
Born in Laurens, he was a son of the late Ulysses Davenport and Eva Geneva Horne Davenport. Blue was an independent owner-operator truck driver and was a member of the OIDA and AHS He had a deep passion for the open road and cherished the moments spent behind the wheel. Apart from trucking, he was an avid fan of NASCAR and enjoyed watching classic western shows like Gun Smoke and Bonanza. Stanley's love extended beyond his work and hobbies to encompass his friends and family. Even after his beloved wife's passing, Stanley visited her grave weekly and their love for one another was ever enduring.
He was predeceased by a sister, Kay Smiley (Dave); and brothers, Truman Davenport and Jerry "Boyd" Davenport (Ellen).
Surviving are his children, Donna Hamrick (Mark), Ken Davenport (Kathie) and Rebecca Davenport; sister, Judy Brown (Mike); brother, Billy Ray Davenport; grandchildren, Donovan Timms (April), Shanna McAllister, Kellan Hamrick, Dallas Davenport, Kendall Davenport, Peyton Davenport, Ryan Davenport and Violet Davenport; great grandchildren, Drake McAllister, Zayne McAllister and Annastyn Timms; and good friends, Ed Pulliam and J. D. Butler.
Services will be held at 12pm on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Harley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
The family will receive friends before the service at the funeral home from 11am-12pm.
Please dress casual for the service for Stanley.
