Sterling Nathaniel Jones, 87, of Ninety Six, husband of Kathryn Lomax Jones, died Monday, May 15, 2023 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Ninety Six, he was the son of the late John Eddie Jones and Louise Anderson Jones. Sterling enjoyed driving his truck for more than 60 years, retiring from Carter Trucking at the age of 85. He was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan and enjoyed watching every Nascar race he could. He loved his family dearly. Sterling proudly served his country as a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of Cambridge United Methodist Church.
Sterling is survived by his wife of the home; his children, Jeffery D. Jones, Jill Neal (Brian); grandchildren, Trent Jones (Summer), Brett Jones, Forrest Dove (Heather), Sheldon Dove, Tyler Neal; twelve great grandchildren and a great great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Ramona Jones, and his five siblings.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, May 18,2023 at Cambridge United Methodist Church in Ninety Six, officiated by Reverend Dennis Barden and Reverend Hank Brooks.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 Pm before the service at the church on Thursday.
