Susan George Morris, 70, of Ninety Six, beloved wife of Ray Edward Morris, passed away on February 7, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born on May 12, 1953, in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Ralph George, Sr. and Mildred Allison George. Susan was a devout member of the Ninety Six First Baptist Church where she actively participated in the Master's Sunday school class, the Senior Group, and had been a former member of the church choir. She had a deep faith and found great joy in serving others, particularly through her greeting card ministry. With a heart full of love and compassion, she would send cards for all occasions to everyone, spreading smiles and love wherever she could.
Susan found happiness by the lake and beach, with Surfside Beach and Irvines Cove being her favorites. It was at Irvines Cove that she first met her soulmate, Ray, during her teenage years. Their love story began there, and Ray would often travel the road to Spartanburg to court her. Their love withstood the test of time, as they had been together for an incredible 53 years. Irvines Cove held a special place in their hearts, symbolizing the precious memories they shared throughout their lives. Susan will be remembered as a friend to all, never meeting a stranger. Her warm and welcoming nature left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have encountered her.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are her children, Michael Ray Morris (Lauren) of Gilbert and Allison Morris Blankenship (Joseph) of Powder Springs, GA; siblings, Robbie Allison Dunagin (Harold) and Tommy George, both of Waterloo; and grandchildren, Nicholas Blankenship, Megan Blankenship, Joey Blankenship, Beau Blankenship, Krew Morris and Kaiden Morris.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday at Ninety Six First Baptist Church with the Rev. Chuck Sprouse officiating.
The family will receive friends before the service at the church from 10-11am.
Memorials may be made to the Ninety Six First Baptist Church Food Bank, PO Box 85, Ninety Six, SC 29666.
The family is at the home.
