Nona Sylvia Thompson, 63, of 201 W. Washington Street, Greenville, died Monday, March 30, 2009 at Hospice House of Greenville. Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Alvin Thompson and Mary Ruth Cogdill Buffington. She was a cosmetologist in Ninety Six and Greenwood for a number of years and was always known for her willingness to help others, especially the homeless. Surviving are two daughters, Tonya Weaver of Greenwood and Deeya Harvley of Hodges; two sons, William Elbert �Skip� Cockrell, Jr. and Jonathan �Chip� Cockrell, both of Greenwood; two sisters, Dessie Stevens of Ninety Six and Sadie Smith of Greenville; a brother, Paul Edward Thompson of Greenwood and seven grandchildren.
