Thelma Hicks "Mama" Goff, of Greenwood, widow of Billy Ray Goff, Sr., passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026.
Born in Belton, she was a daughter of the late Rev. William Marvin Hicks and Nannie Lee Snider Hicks. Known affectionately as "Momma Goff," Thelma dedicated many years of her life to providing childcare, nurturing countless children with her warmth and compassion. Beyond her childcare services, she also ran her own successful cleaning and catering business, where her culinary talents brought joy to many families and gatherings. A lifelong member of Durst Avenue Church of God, she was actively involved in the women's ministries, where her kindness and willingness to help others knew no bounds. Her unwavering faith and dedication to her church and family were a testament to her compassionate spirit.
Surviving are her son, Billy Ray Goff, Jr. (Bonnie); sisters, Effie Hayes (Curtis), and Dorothy "Dot" Breedlove (Guy); brother, Rev. Bill "Peanut" Hicks; grandchildren, Tripp Goff (Janet) and Deleigh Goff; great grandchildren, Tanner Goff (Chelsey), Casen Goff, Sumher Goff and Gabe Crawford; and great-great grandchildren, Marli Goff and Emerie Goff.
She was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Keith Goff and siblings, Loucille Phillips, Mary Hicks and Jim Hicks.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday at Durst Avenue Church of God with the Revs. Jason Thomas and Wallace Purvis Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends before the service at the church from 1:00 -2:00 pm.
